Sew a beach bag from deckchair fabric - Enjoy the summer !

Beach Bag, 58 x 50 cm, small bag with carabiner hook, 26 x 18 cm



Material for 1 bag with attachable small bag:

• Deckchair fabric, 80 x 110 cm
• Ribbon 180 cm, 2 cm width
• Zipper for beach bag, 60 cm
• Zipper for small bag, 26 cm
• 1 carabiner hook
• Small ribbon, 210 cm (pipe ribbon)
• Samll piece of water repellent fabric
• Polyester thread

Instruction:

Cut the fabric for the bag: 60 x 110 cm, fold it, pin it on each side and sew it.

Fold the lower edges as triangles with sides: app : 11 x 11 x 16 (Pythagoras) and sew it on each side. This gives you the depth of the bag which is about 16 cm.

Iron the triangles and fold them back to the side seams.

Pin them and sew them from outside --> foto.

Cut two rectangles, 42 x 20 cm, fold them on long side, sew the on  left and right side and cover them with a small piece of water repellent fabric. Then pin the zipper --> foto.

And sew on the zipper, make two seams on each side, so it cannot tear. Cover the end of the zipper nicely (I used also a small piece of water repellent fabric).

Fold back about on 1 cm from the upper edge of the bag, iron it, then fold another 5 cm to inside of the bag, iron it. Now push in the zipper part --> foto. Sew around the folded seam.

To make the seam looking nicely from outside, cover it with a ribbon , use a zigzag stitch. (I used a pipe ribbon).

Then cut 2 bag handles, each 90 cm long, fold the end to the back on each side and sew it about 16,5 cm away from the side seams. Cut a 10 cm piece from the small ribbon, put it underneath of one bag handle and sew it on.

For the small bag cut a piece out of the deckchair fabric, 28 x 40 cm (or 2 pieces 28 x 21 cm) sew on the zipper on the upper edges --> foto.

Now prepare the knotted ribbon on the carabiner hook. Fold a 150 cm ribbon and knot it in the carabiner hook - one end app. 55 cm, the other 20 cm.

With the long part make knots over the shorter part --> foto.

Finish after 7 knots. (it shows a touch of sailing).

Fix the loose ends with the sewing machine --> foto. (You can sew on your label on these ribbons). Attach the finished ribbon on one side of the small bag. Sew each side of the small bag, cover the seams nicely and turn the bag.

Now you can attach the small bag to the loop on the beach bag.
