Repair a bag - Part 2 - Renew a long bag handle

Renew a long bag handle, size 145 cm


Material:

• A few leather pieces in a matching colour
• Polyester thread
• Interfacing strap, 150 cm

Instruction:

Prepare the leather pieces.

Cut straight edges and sew the pieces together with polyester thread, use a smaller zigzag stitch.
(if your machine does not want to sew the leather, try another needle and sew very slowly).

Then iron on the interfacing strap.

Fold the leather and sew the bag handle on the folded edge --> foto.

Now fold on the seam allowance to the inside and sew it.

Cut off the rest of the leather carefully --> foto.

Remove the hardware from the old bag handle.

And fix it to the new one. If you do not have a rivet machine, make a seam with your sewing machine instead.

Now you have a "new old bag".
