Repair a bag - Part 1 - Renew a broken handle

Old bag with new handle, 120 cm long

Material:

  • Small piece of leather, app. same colour
  • Interfacing ribbon
  • Polyester thread
  • 2 Snap rivets
  • 2 Metal rings
  • 2 Carabiner hooks
  • Metal chain

Instruction:

Remove the broken old handle from the bag.

Prepare the leather piece and iron on the interfacing ribbon (if you don´t have an interfacing ribbon, use a cut piece of regular interfacing material). Fold the leather to a string, clip it and sew it.

Attach the carabiner hooks to one end of the metal chain.

Fold the sewn leather ribbon, put each end through a metal ring and fix it with a snap rivet (if you don´t have snap rivets, make a seam with your sewing machine).
Then attach the open end of the chain to the metal ring and fix it with the pliers.

Enjoy your new old bag !
